Hi Amita,

I don't have specific information on fashion industry, but usually for foreigners, job opportunities are less frequent to come by partly because most the jobs require you to speak French. How confident do you feel conversing in French ? It may also be that the basics of fashion that you might have learnt in India/ elsewhere are quite different from what you would find here especially when it concerns the techniques and available resources. It might be good to join a French course and look for a simultaneous course in some niche/ specialty of fashion market closer to your area of work. That way the chances are you might get an internship at the end of your studies and it will also help you get familiar with local techniques used. If none of this is your cup of tea, then you can scour usual employment sites such as monster, cadre emploi etc to see if there's a direct opportunity somewhere.

All the best !

(Don't forget to share your experience here to help others in need.)

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions. Lets see. I will try my best to find something direct and if i don't succeed then i guess i will go by what you suggested. Also do you have an idea where i can learn french free of cost as in are there any french schools here who teach french for free because i have tried learning french online but unless you converse french on a daily basis with some local french person , it is difficult to get a hold of it.

Hi Amita,

You are right that if you don't converse in French on a daily basis, its quite an uphill task. I have been told that Mairie (townhall) of different Paris districts have free French courses. I guess you need to go to the townhall of your arrondisement to find out the details.

yeah i got to know this just a day back from someone. i will find out about this. but when i look for jobs online, in their requirement they ask for English fluency. why is it so? that means i have better chances of getting a job here since very few people are knowing English here or is it that french is compulsory and along with that the companies require English also? as in i really need to understand on what criteria the companies hire foreigners.also i know only one site for fashion related jobs that is fr.fashionjobs.com. do you know any more related to fashion?
