Hello RR,
Paris is a very touristic town. In touristic places, you will always find people speaking English. Also, just about anywhere in the street, if you need to ask your way, you will always find someone speaking at least some broken English, especially the younger generations.
In the Metro, signs and directions and indicated in French, English and some other languages.
It is useful though to know a few words, how to pronounce something to get people to understand you better (or how something pronounced in French may be written).
You will find a
section with some useful
pronunciation rules,
greeting phrases and
phrases useful in restaurants in this site.
As for the guides, you will find in every touristic place a guide speaking English. If you are only staying for 2 days, then getting a guided bus tour will certainly be time and cost effective for you (such as
Cars Rouges - they provide commentaries in English too)
You will find information about
Hotels & Accommodation here too.
Hope that helps you,
Enjoy your stay in Paris
