AR Rahman, the celebrated Indian music composer, is looking forward to his first live concert in Paris this July. The concert is a part of his 'Jai Ho' world tour with 17 concerts across the globe including in New York, Los Angeles, Mannheim, London (Wembley, O2 Arena), etc. The magnitude of this conference is a witness of the artist's international repute and fan base. The concerts have been envisaged on a theatrical scale with insertion of new technologies for sound and special effects to create a spectacular show lasting more than two hours and a half.


The Paris concert of AR Rahman will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 2010 at Paris Porte de Versailles which has a capacity to accommodate more than 12,000 persons. AR Rahman's concerts will showcase his rich repertory of music that speaks a universal language to the Pan-Indian and western audiences. For the 'Jai Ho' world tour, the scenography has been elaborated upon by Amy Tinkham who has worked with shows of artists such as Madonna, Paul McCartney, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey. For the 'Jai Ho' concerts, she will put accent on Indian heritage of dance set to the music of Rahman, mixing the traditional with the modern.


More than 80 persons- dancers, singers, technicians- are accompanying the artist on this enormous international tour among whom the readers might already be familiar with singers Hariharan, Javed Ali, Benny Dayal, Shweta Pandit, rapper Blaaze and singer-actor Neeti Mohan.

Speaking during his press conference to the Parisian press, AR Rahman said that he was looking forward to be in Paris for his first concert even though he has been to Paris on a number of occasions, sometimes, just coming over for a short period from London for a break. On being asked what his favourite song was, the artist responded that all his songs were his favourite while giving us a hint that the spectators will be able to figure it out for themselves during his concert !


“Jai Ho” is the famous single from the Academy Award winning Danny Boyle's film 'Slumdog Millionnaire' which was set to music by AR Rehman for which he received two Academy awards for Best original score and Best original song (shared with Gulzar). His concert titled 'Jai Ho' is a befitting tribute to all people who are held together by the bond of music and especially to Indian audiences the world over who will take a trip down the memory lane back to India with all the blockbuster hits of AR Rahman which the current generation has grown up listening to.
