Dancers from Kerala to enchant the Paris Festival goers

Seasoned and young dancers from Kerala disembark in Paris for the 14th Festival de l'Imaginaire to enchant the French public.


Festival de l'Imaginaire 2010

The Festival de l'Imaginare is currently on in Paris from March 3rd- April 23rd, 2010. It is an annual event organised by the Maison des Cultures du Monde (World Cultural House). The mission of the festival is to rediscover the treasure of cultural heritage of different countries with artists presenting their creations or classical repertories in traditional forms.


In addition to the representation by the Southern state of Kerala through their dances, the Tibetan Buddhist monks of the Nechung monastery of Dharamsala from the Northern state of Himachal Pradesh will offer the spectators a peek into their ritual ceremonies and prayers at the National Opera of Bastille.

Superman of Malegaon in Paris

"Superman of Malegaon", a film by Faiza Ahmad Khan, won the hearts of the Guimet jury at the 16th International Film Festival of Vesoul. It was mentioned as the 'Guimet Special Favourite' Film. 'Superman of Malegoan' is a hilarious take on Indian people in relation to the cinema and the West. The movie will be screened at the Musée Guimet on April 8th. Get details.


Taiwanese film "No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti" by Leon Dai was awarded the Prix Emile Guimet and the Golden Cycle Award. The film be shown in a free public screening at Musée Guimet on April 9th. Indian Spring at Musée du Quai Branly

As the Exhibition Other Masters of India opens at Musée du Quai Branly from March 30th- July 18th, 2010 there are a host of exhibition and India related activities at the Musuem. The exhibition is fruit of the labour of Dr. Jyotindra Jain, anthropologist, art historian and chief curator who, along with Jean-Pierre Mohen, pre-historian and heritage conservator, have worked for more than four years to bring out this project.

Internationally renowned artist Jivya Soma Mashe, of Warli from the Indian state of Maharastra, will be the in-house artist. A meeting with him, guided by Vikash Harish, art historian and the scientific advisor for the exhibition, is proposed to get to know the artist better. Artists Mohal Lal and Sundari Bai will also be available till 1st April to interact with the public.


Vikas will also conduct the conference Surguja- where walls tell the stories to take the audience for an inside look at the artists of Surguja village from the India state of Chattisgarh. During both these conferences,videos and extracts of film 'India- on the discovery of Adlivasis' by Gilles Moisset will be screened.

Amitabh Bachchan in Paris in June

Legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan will be in Paris on June 13th for a poem recital as homage to his father Poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan at the Theatre des Champs Elysees.

The committee of Miss India France is inviting candidate for the beauty contest Miss India France 2010 and Mister India France 2010.


Miss India France 2010

The candidature is open to all men and women, of Indian origin, between 18 and 25 years, living in France. The elected candidates will be representatives of Indian culture during one year for any or all official events of the Miss India France committee. Last date for submitting the candidature is March 20th, 2010.
