Indians at Roland Garros- French Open 2010

Indian representation and results at the 2010 French Open:


A total of 5 players representing India are present at the Roland Garros this year- Prakash Amritraj and Somdev Devvarman in Men's Singles; Mahesh Bhupathi and Leader Paes in Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles and Rohan Bopanna in Men's Doubles.

Funding for Short Films by the city of Paris

The city of Paris invites candidature of short films for funding for the year 2010.


In a bid to improve the declining figures for the production of short feature films, Paris encourages film makers and production houses based in France to submit their project's candidature. The films need to be less than 60 minutes and be shot mostly in Paris.

My Name is Khan in French Cinemas on May 26th

French and desi fans of ShahRukh Khan will be delighted as the much awaited ShahRukh Khan-Kajol starrer 'My Name is Khan' will be releasing in France on May 26th, 2010.


The controversial blockbuster is being released in French cinemas by 20th Century Fox. The film was released in Cinemas in India, USA, Canada and UK in February. The film deals with the sensitive subject of being a Muslim in a post 9/11 USA throwing up issues such as racial prejudice, bigotry and possible xenophobia in times of crisis.

Giant garden on the Champs Elysées

Come May 23rd, 2010 and the Champs ElysĂ©es will be converted into a giant garden for 2 days and 1 night to celebrate the biodiversity of France. The event named « Nature Capitale » is conceptualized by the street artist Gad Weil in collaboration with the Union of Young Farmers of France* and the 'France Bois ForĂȘt'.


Nature Capitale will be spread out over 3 hectares area of the Champs Elysées from Arc de Triomphe to the Concorde. More than 150,000 trees, 8,000 'fragments'  and 150 species of flora will be spread out in four 'forests' running the length of 1 km by 27 meters on « the most beautiful' avenue of the world».

Paris airports suspend air traffic

Following volcanic eruption in Iceland on Thursday, April 15th, 2010, air traffic in Paris and other major Western European airports remains suspended.


Only 6 Airports in France, all of which are located in the south- Toulouse, Montpellier, Pau, Tarbes, Biarritz and Perpignan- are open. European countries such as the UK, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, Spain, Finland have suspended aerial traffic till Sunday 18th or Monday, 19th April.
