The bi-annual French sale is beginning in Paris, sub-urbs and other areas on June 24th, 2009 and will last till July 28th, 2009. Some departments (other than in Ile-de-France) may have a different sale period. The 'Sale' is applicable to items available at participating retailers/ hypermarkets- from household goods to electronics, clothes to shoes, bags and accessories, everything is up for grabs at discounted prices. Even on-line stores participate in this Sale to liquidate their stocks.

ESTA fees of $14 for Travellers from France to the USA

Starting 8th September 2010, all the travellers for USA bound flight or ship need to pay an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) fees of 14$. As per a press release by the American Embassy in France, the travellers from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries, including France, will need to pay an ESTA fees of 14$ set by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

New Tariff For School Canteens in 2010


The city of Paris has taken measures to better its canteen services offered at the municipal schools and colleges. Given the existing disparity in canteen tariffs depending on the district of Paris, the city council voted on 11th May 2010 to favour a tariff system more regulated and homogeneous across its various districts. However, 5 districts (6th, 8th, 15th, 16th & 17th) have boycotted the regulation and will continue their existing structure.
