In service since 1974, Charles de Gaulle (pronounced 'sharl duh gaul') is one of the principal airport of the world and the main International airport of France. CDG or Roissy (pronounced 'rwasee'), as it is generally called, is named after General Charles de Gaulle, founder of the French Vth republic.

Flights are served by three terminals-Terminal 1, 2 and 3. While Terminal 1 has only one building for arrival and departures, the more modern Terminal 2 has 6 sub-terminals- 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F. The airport Terminal 2 is connected by trains to Paris (the urban RER network) and Brussels or some major French cities (through the TGV). There are moving walkways connecting different terminals of the airport.

Access:

RER B:

The airport is connected to Paris through the urban rail RER B which operates three to four times an hour. The RER B station is located at Terminal 2. A one way ticket to Paris Gare du Nord (pronounced 'gaar duh nohr') station costs approximately 7.50 Euros. The average journey time to Paris is 30 minutes. The ticket can be bought at the automatic ticket vending machine located at station. A fast and cost effective way to reach Paris, with an easy accessibility of Metro/ buses to other destinations in Paris, this is a recommended mode of transport.

Air France Shuttle Coaches/ Les Cars Air France:

Air France runs a coach service from Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 to different locations in Paris. This paying service can be used irrespective of the airline one is flying with.

These coaches are available from Terminal 1 (gate 34 arrivals), Terminals 2A & 2C (gate C2), Terminal 2E & 2F (galerie 3) and Terminal 2B & 2D (gate B2). Note that Terminal 3 is NOT served by this service.

Tickets can be bought from Coach counters at the airport or on-board from the driver.

It takes about 45-60 minutes from CDG to reach Paris/ Orly depending on the traffic

There are three different services one can use depending on the proximity to the destination/ location of the hotel in Paris.

Line 2:

  • Operating between CDG and Paris Porte Maillot (Boulevard Gouvion St.Cyr) and Arc-de-Triomphe (Avenue Carnot), this service is available every 20 minutes between 5.50 AM and 11 PM.
  • One way fare is 13 Euros for an Adult and 6.50 Euros for Child (2-11 years).

Line 4:

  • Operating between CDG and Paris Gare de Lyon (22, bis Boulevard Diderot) and Gare Montparnasse (rue du Commandant Mouchotte), this service is available every 30 minutes from 7 AM to 9PM.
  • One way fare is 14 Euros for an Adult and 7 Euros for Child (2-11 years).

Line 3:

  • This coach can be taken to reach Orly airport in case one has connecting flights from Orly to other destinations.
  • Operating between CDG and Orly Terminal South (Terminal Sud, Gate K) and Orly Terminal West (Terminal ouest, Gate D, arrival level), this service is available every 30 minutes from 6 AM to 10.30 PM.
  • One way fare is 16 Euros for an Adult and 8 Euros for Child (2-11 years).

Bus:

Paris can be reached by Bus 350 (Bus Stop: Gare du Nord or Gare de l'Est), Bus 351 (Bus Stop: Porte de Bagnolet or Nation) or Roissybus. It takes about one hour to reach depending on the traffic.
