Exhibition Yves Saint Laurent Yves Saint Laurent is not just a name in haute-couture, it is an institution. This exhibition, with the support of Fondation Pierre-Bergé- Yves Saint Laurent and Petit Palais Museum of Fine Arts, is presenting the totality of the works of YSL in about 307 models of high fashion and ready to wear clothes and various photographs and films spanning over 40 years tracing the story and the evolution of YSL- the man and the institution. These works aims to offer an insight into the construction of the style and fundamentals of the works of Yves Saint Laurent from a historical perspective. The artistic influence is palpable in his works. There are various themes one can discover- from the costumes for films and stars such as Catherine Deneuve in' Belle de Jour' in 1967 to the 'fairy tale of the exotic', 'the Essence of Scandal' to the photographs of JeanLoup Sieff (from the campaign where YSL posed nude for the launch of his first perfume for men in 1971), 'Yves Saint Laurent and the Women'to 'Studio Mental/ Studio Réel', the visitors will find themselves submerged in the the world of this iconic figure and brand. Exposition Yves Saint Laurent au Petit Palais Première rétrospective présentant l’intégralité de l’oeuvre d’Yves Saint Laurent, cette exposition est placée sous le haut patronage de Madame Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. A travers plus de 300 modèles, de nombreux dessins, documents et films, le musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris rend un vibrant hommage au plus grand couturier de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. En 40 ans de création, Yves Saint Laurent a révolutionné la garde-robe de la femme en empruntant au vestiaire masculin le smoking, le tailleur pantalon et la saharienne pour en vêtir les femmes. Ainsi Saint Laurent fit passer les attributs du pouvoir d’un sexe à l’autre. S’inspirant de la rue (collection scandale 1971), de ses voyages imaginaires (Russie, Chine, Inde, Espagne, Japon, Afrique et Maroc) et de son dialogue avec l’Art (Mondrian, Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh…), Yves Saint Laurent n’a cessé « de faire de la mode une fête ».
